2014 Jun 4

FULLERTON, CALIF- Andre Conde of Fullerton, CA was recently awarded first place for his presentation of White Light Medical at the Cal State Fullerton 2014 Business Plan Competition. His team, consisting of two Johns Hopkins University engineering students, Anvesh Annadanam and Luis Herrera, developed the concept of AccuSpine, a low-cost, smarter pedicle probe, for the accurate placement of screws in spinal fusion surgeries. The competition requires contestants to present their business idea to a panel of judges, who then award cash prizes and in-kind services to the top three ideas. Andre Conde was awarded $3,000 and more than $11,000 of in-kind services for the further development of White Light Medical.

The Business Plan Competition is designed to promote the entrepreneurial ideal to students across campus and to provide the impetus that student entrepreneurs need to develop their business ideas into something actionable.
